Introduction

The Medical College (MC) was established in 1983, as a part of the Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Faculty of Health Sciences in Pakistan. It attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of faculty and students, so that its graduates become contributory members and leaders of society.

The programmes offered by the Medical College are tailored to international standards in curriculum, student engagement and assessment, and aim to develop clinical competence in community settings and hospitals, as well as the assessment of health and prevention of disease in communities through primary health-care programmes.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:
  • initiate research activities, run research projects and collaborate with various other departments under the guidance of the supervisor
  • provide research and technical support in developing grant proposals for acquiring internal and/or exernal grants
  • work in liaison with current researchers on identifying and developing future research and funding initiatives, developing and managing current and future research administration
  • analyze quantitative and qualitative data obtained from research projects
  • monitor the progress of research projects
  • prepare the findings and progress studies in periodic weekly research meetings
  • develop policies and procedures for all core processes and continual improvement of services at CITRIC
  • provide overall administrative and operational support to CITRIC
  • plan, organise, and supervise all activities, including logistic planning, execution, and coordination with heads of support services for allocation of resources within CITRIC
  • play a pivotal role in facilitating the centres, faculty, and staff within CITRIC in their research endeavors
  • liaise between the Dean's Office and the Directors/Leads of the various programmes located in CITRIC and serve as the point person for coordinating activities with the Research Office, Finance, HR, Legal, etc.
  • assist in the execution of initiatives taken by the Office of the Dean/Associate Dean, Research in support of the research mandates
  • coordinate the allocation and monitoring of space, security, budget, etc., as well as maintaining and upkeeping of CITRIC
  • manage CITRIC's flagship Dean's Clinical Research Fellowship Training programme, which includes, but is not limited to, hiring, arranging didactic sessions, developing, and monitoring performance, coordinating with stakeholders, and being the point person for DCRF related matters
  • plan and execute CITRIC's annual events and lecture series.

Requirements

You should have:
  • a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Public Health or Health Policy and Management
  • at least two years of relevant research experience
  • proven experience in office management or administrative roles
  • ability to plan and conduct research projects
  • proficiency in the use of computer and data management software including SPSS, EndNote, STATA, Epidata etc.
  • ability to write research manuscripts
  • knowledge of good clinical practices
  • proven mixed method research skills
  • strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret data and trends
  • excellent organizational, project managementm planning, communication, problem solving skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast paced environment.
